A Sad Tale :(

A tale off great sorrow I have to tell :(

Me and my daughter Hanna have been visiting “Roundhay Park, little lake” to feed the ducks for as long as we can remember now.

I get real enjoyment from seeing Hanna feeding them, her talking and calling to them and they even come onto the banking to her, Hanna loves all animals and loves feeding the ducks, its there “T” time she would say.

We recently been watching this duck type bird (not sure what it’s called, tried to find its name “see pic above”) it woz sat on its nest off eggs we counted three it didn’t get of the nest if it saw u looking it woz just protecting its young not yet born.

And here is where the sad bit comes :(

Thursday 25 of may 2006 we went to see if the eggs had hatched yet, as we peeked over the wall I woz unable to stop Hanna seeing what I had just saw, in fact it took a couple of seconds to take in the horror of what had happened, I bundled Hanna in my arms and we left, but she had seen and was already sobbing mercilessly :(

Some cruel person had dislodged a slab of stone from the top of the wall and thrown it on top of the poor bird as it sat on its nest of eggs, this had shattered all the eggs the mother had been sat on and also had terminally injured the poor bird :(

How this horrid excuse for a human being sleeps at night ill never know, we returned the next day and left a note of remembrance
